The Aston Martin Vantage GT3 will make its debut at the Nurburgring on 6 October during round eight of the VLN Endurance Championship, despite the fact that development of the car isn’t yet finished.

The new Vantage GT3 won’t be homologated until March 2019, so Aston Martin will use the opportunity to further develop it. Additionally, the race will provide the British manufacturer with vital information about its performance and durability in race conditions.

Due to its lack of homologation, the car will run in the VLN’s special SPX class. Piloting the car will be three-times Le Mans class winner Darren Turner and 2019 Nurburgring 24 Hours winner Maxime Martin.

“It’s a great honor for me to be first to race the new Vantage GT3 at the Nürburgring. The Nordschleife is like a spiritual home for GT racing so to be there at the start of a new program is really special.

“It’s a circuit that presents a huge challenge for the cars and it’s where we need to be racing to find and extend the limits of the Vantage GT3. It’s always great to be a part of the early stages of a development process, and the fact that we are already taking it racing says a lot about its potential and the confidence we have in it,” Turner said.

The latest Vantage GT3 is based on the all-new Vantage and will replace the successful V12 Vantage GT3 next year. The car uses many of the same components as the Vantage GTE, including its twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. Although this engine starts out life at AMG’s headquarters, it has been comprehensively modified by Aston Martin Racing.
