If you’re searching for a cool classic BMW track-day racer with a bit of a zing, then perhaps you ought to check out this 2002 coupe from 1972 that comes with an M3 E30 four-pot residing under its hood.

The car is street-legal, though, from the specifications and the pictures we see here, it’s clearly not the kind of ride you’d want to go on a trip with unless it was absolutely necessary to drive it directly to the racetrack or a…twisty road.

On the outside, the 2002 has been fitted with Zender’s steroidal fenders housing wider wheels, a huge rear wing and a front apron, while both bumpers were removed.

Most of the interior was stripped down with the rear seats deleted to make way for a custom aluminum roll cage, while up front there’s a custom dash, a smaller sports steering wheel and a pair of Sabelt racing seats.

One of the main highlights of the build is the “217hp” (220PS) M3 E30 S14 engine, with the output suggesting that it may have been sourced from an M3 EVO2 – that or it has been tuned.

The asking price for the car is $24,900 (about €17,900) on the seller’s website, but it has been listed for auction on eBay as well.
