Two students were killed and two others were injured Saturday afternoon when the car they were riding in was struck by a train at a railway crossing in Louisville, Kentucky.
A pair of railway buffs filming trains captured the accident when the white Toyota Camry ran a signal and tried to speed through the crossing, all while the train was blowing its horn.
The train pushed the Camry about a mile down the tracks before it came to a stop. According to Wave3 News, the front and rear passengers, identified as Suk Man Rai, 19, and Chita Chuwan, 16, died immediately at the scene, while the driver and the passenger sitting behind him, are both in critical condition at University of Louisville Hospital.
Train-watching hobbyist, Anthony Collman, was one of the two people who recorded the accident.
“All I heard was metal and glass breaking and the bumper flying off on the other side. And I’ll be honest with you, if that may have went on the other side, I may not be standing here today,” Collman told WLKY. “What did I just see? I mean, it took me a little bit of time to comprehend what I just saw. It was just –wow. I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
