Hyundai Tucson Undergoes Extreme Off-Road Transformation For SEMA
Hyundai continues previewing its lineup for this year's SEMA Show with a new off-road custom concept based on the 2016 Tucson.
The car was built by Rockstar Performance Garage (RPG), marking the first time Hyundai has teamed up with the off-road specialists. The tuning concept features a raised suspension from King Shocks that increases ride height by 6 inches (152mm) thanks to fully-custom, adjustable shocks and struts. Furthermore, the customized Tucson rides on 32-inch MTZ P3 tires from Mickey Thompson. In order to accommodate the massive wheels and off-road suspension, the vehicle's wheel wells were reconstructed to create space.
Performance modifications include upgraded turbo piping, a high-flow Magnaflow exhaust as well as a new K&N intake and intercooler from Mishimoto that help the engine breathe more freely. All these provide a performance boost to Hyundai's 1.6-liter "Gamma" four-cylinder engine, although no figures have been released yet. Power is distributed to all four wheels via a 6-speed DCT transmission.
Design-wise, the RPG Tucson sports a black and yellow livery, smoked taillights, a custom LED light bar setup from Bulldog LED Lighting, and custom off road bumpers.
The RPG Tucson also comes with Hyundai's next-generation Blue Link system, which includes features like Destination Search Powered by Google and remote lock. Read on for the complete list of modifications.
