The Nissan Titan Warrior Concept is rightfully stealing hearts and minds at Detroit but the show has also attracted the road-going 2016 Titan XD and appropriately, the marque has dropped a new video ad of the car.

The 90-second commercial was aired during the recent College Football Playoff National Championship game and provides nods to Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge who shaped the pickup industry.

It’s very rare to see an automaker acknowledge and actually thank the contribution its rivals have made to the market but Nissan does just that with this commercial. It is quite refreshing to see.

According to vice president of marketing communications and media at Nissan North America, Jeremy Tucker, “this ad was about grabbing people’s attention while celebrating our partnership with the College Football Playoff National Championship game. We wanted to take this moment to go big again. This spot tested extremely well with truck owners and enthusiasts, which emboldened our plan to make a statement to the industry.”

Unveiled at last year’s Detroit show, the 2016 Titan XD is offered with three different powertrains. The staple engine is a 5.0-liter turbo diesel V8 making 310 hp and 555 lb-ft, resulting in a 12,000 pound towing capcity.

Production of the Titan XD kicked off
at the company’s Canton, Mississippi factory in late November.
