2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV Debuts In Las Vegas

Celebrating its world debut at this year’s CES in Las Vegas is the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt. GM’s production electric car represents the firm’s alternative to the BMW i3.

A number of details about the new Bolt have yet to be released and are unlikely to be announced before next week’s Detroit show. Nevertheless, the American automaker has confirmed the new car will have a range exceeding 200 miles on a full charge.

Beyond its powertrain, the new Bolt has been outfitted with a range of connectivity technologies, all created to make the ownership experience easier. For starters, there is a large 10-2 inch MyLink color touchscreen display as well as a rear-facing wide-angle camera. There is also a ‘Surround Vision’ system, similar to setups used in many large SUVs that provide a bird’s eye view of the car through a number of different cameras.

Also installed into the new Bolt is a navigation system that shows where nearby charging stations are and also offers routes to maximize the Bolt’s range.

Design wise, the car is very similar to the Bolt concept unveiled 12 months ago. Some of the key design changes between the two is the production car’s new front fascia and headlights, larger side windows and smaller wheels.
