Ford’s high-performance compact, the Focus RS, has turned out to be a hit, as the blue oval has received 2,300 orders in the UK.

Most popular of the five different colors is Nitrous Blue, chosen by 61 percent of buyers, followed by Frozen White, with 15 percent and Shadow Black, which attracted 10 percent.

Another 85 percent of buyers have ordered the optional blue-painted brake calipers, covered by 19-inch black forged alloy wheels and 89 percent have specified the optional Luxury Pack that includes Ford KeyFree System, power-folding side mirrors, rear parking sensors, cruise control and privacy glass. Ford SYNC2 naviation and premium sound system were selected by 89 percent.

These options add to the long list of standard equipment that includes 19-inch multi-spoke alloys, 350mm ventilated front disc brakes, RS rear spoiler, twin-pipe high-performance exhaust, bi-xenon headlights, Recaro front seats, Thatcham Category 1 alarm, dual-zone electronic temperature control, heated windscreen and washer jets.

All units of the new Ford Focus RS carry at their heart a 2.3-ltier EcoBoost engine, shared with the Mustang EcoBoost, delivering 350PS (345hp) and 440Nm (324lb-ft) of torque. The hot hatch needs 4.7sec from rest to 100km/h (62mph) and it can hit a top speed of 266km/h (165mph).

The cheapest 2016 Ford Focus RS carries a price of £29,995 ($42,811) in Britain.
