Lamborghini “Centenario” Has Been Reportedly Sold Out

The upcoming special Lamborghini model’s steep price tag or limited production did not stop rich collectors from buying all units.

Nicknamed the Centenario, the follow-up to the Sesto Elemento, Aventador J, Reventon and Veneno will be built in the honor of the 100th birthday of Ferruccio Lamborghini, and it was apparently sold out, as Autocar reports.

Since exclusivity doesn’t come cheap, each of the 40 units, 20 coupes and 20 convertibles are said to carry a price tag of €2.2 million ($2,4 million). Power is rumored to stand at somewhere around 760 horses, thanks to an updated version of the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, found on the Aventador.

Lamborghini’s flagship supercar is expected to serve as a basis for the new Centenario (name not confirmed), as the company’s boss, Stephan Winkelmann, said in a previous interview. The exotic vehicle will be street legal and it’s expected to bring together the newest developments in terms of aerodynamics, chassis control, light weighting and, of course, engine technology.

“On one hand it is for collectors and lovers of the brand, it is also a celebration in this sense, but on the other hand it is also for Maurizio Reggiani and his team to demonstrate what they able to do with technical innovations“, said Winkelmann.

Lamborghini officials are mum on details about the limited edition supercar, so chances are we will learn more about it in March, when it will be introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show.
