It seems like somewhat of a natural progression that when an automaker releases a high-performance model, it turns it into a police car for either real-world use or simply for promotional purposes.

Now, Renault Sport has done just that with its R.S. 01, already a proven performer on the racetrack.

Unlike the Lamborghini Huracan police cruiser used in Italy or the array of supercars used by the Dubai and Abu Dhabi police forces, this Renault Sport R.S. 01 police car was only appointed with a distinct livery for this promo video.

Behind the wheel of the R.S. 01 is former WRC driver Jean Ragnotti, a man more than capable of extracting all the available performance out of the car. And thanks to its twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine from the Nissan GT-R delivering over 500 hp, it has a lot of performance to offer.

While we won’t see it patrolling the streets of France, it’s cool to know that if it did, even the fastest superbikes couldn’t outrun it.
