Roland Gumpert Said To Be Developing New Hypercar

Roland Gumpert, the founder of the namesake German supercar manufacturer recently saved from bankruptcy, is apparently working on an all-new hypercar separate from the company he created.

GTspirit claims that Roland Gumpert has teamed up with JAS Motorsport and Reiter Engineering, a very successful racing outfit, to create a new hypercar aiming to set a lap record around the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

Very few details about the car are known including whether or not it will be road-legal and if in fact it will be a production car. It’s possible that the car will compete in the GT Sports Club racing season, formed by SRO Motorsports. With this in mind, there’s a possibility that Gumpert’s new hypercar will be similar in concept to the racing-spec SCG003 created by James Glickenhaus.

Given the experience of Roland Gumpert, Reiter Engineering and JAS Motorsport in the industry, there’s an excellent chance the car the trio create could be world-beating. Roland himself helped bring to life Audi‘s famed Quattro all-wheel drive system while also being responsible for the Gumpert Apollo, a car which remains one of the fastest street cars to lap the Nurburgring.

Meanwhile, Reiter Engineering races in numerous series around the world including the Pirelli World Challenge and Blancpain GT Series and produces many different racing cars, including a number of modified Lamborghinis.
