The hype around Furious 7 may have only recently subsided and already, additional details about the eighth installment are starting to surface including the first promo picture for the film, the first in a final trilogy.
Posted by Vin Diesel on his personal Instagram account, the picture reconfirms previously-announced details about the next F&F film. For starters, it will be dubbed Fast 8, debut in April 2017 and be set in New York City.
The first movie in the franchise, The Fast and the Furious of 2001 was initially going to be set in New York but was instead filmed in Los Angeles. Fast 8 will therefore mark an important development in the franchise and the change of scenery could spice up the familiar recipe of car chases, explosions and illegal street racing.
F. Gray Gray was hand-picked as the director of Fast 8 by Diesel on the back of directing Straight Outta Compton, Law Abiding Citizen and the 2003 version of The Italian Job.
