SEAT may have only just unveiled its very first SUV in the form of the Ateca and already, the car has been rendered with two fewer doors.

Created to rival the likes of the Nissan Qashqai, Renault Kadjar, Hyundai ix35, Ford Kuga and Mazda CX-5, the Seat Ateca has a modern and edgy design which as these renderings show, lends itself quite well to a coupe derivative.

While it is becoming increasingly popular for automaker’s to release coupe variants of their SUVs, it seems unlikely Seat will do so with the Ateca. After all, none of its rivals are available with fewer than five doors. However, a high-performance Cupra version could become a reality.

In its current form, it is underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s modular MQB platform, also shared with the VW Tiguan and at launch, will be available with two petrol and three diesel engines. These consist of a 113 hp 1.0-liter three-cylinder petrol, a 1.4-liter petrol with 148 hp as well as a 113 hp 1.6-liter diesel, and a 2.0-liter diesel available in 148 hp and 187 hp guises.
