Ever wanted to legally ride a motorcycle on Venice Beach? Well now you can, sort of…

The Motoped wants to be the coolest way of riding through town, combining the best of the bicycle and moped worlds together. But what is it? Well, something very different; something between a hard-core downhill mountain bike and a motorcycle.

It’s also very environmentally conscious and fuel efficient as well, delivering between 80 – 130 mpg thanks to its power to weight ratio advantage, and the company’s SmartCarb technology that reduces the output of emissions up to 30%.

Anyway, don’t let the Motoped’s tiny 2 hp 49cc engine discourage you, because it weighs around 120 pounds – making it transportable on a properly constructed automobile rack, for instance. But if you feel that 49cc aren’t enough for your…bicycle, then the manufacturer can equip it with larger displacement engines, including a 7.8 hp 124cc unit.

The best part is that these vehicles can be commissioned after every customer’s delight, with heaps of personalization options, although they come in three guises: Cruzer, Pro and Survival; each one with its own unique characteristic.

Prices for the Motoped start at $2,299 for the basic version.
