Lamborghini Expands Junior Driving Program For 2016

Lamborghini has extended its support of young up-and-coming drivers with the expansion of its GT3 Junior Program.

Launched last year, the program is run by Lamborghini’s Squadra Corsa racing department and supports young drivers in their path to race in leading GT competitions. In 2015, the program included eight drivers and for 2016, that figure rises to 19 drivers.

Of those 19, 13 will come from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series who will enjoy the opportunity of driving the potent Huracan GT3, rather than the Huracan LP620-2 Super Trofeo.

Drivers in the 2016 GT3 Junior Program will compete in a number of GT championships around the world with factory-backed Huracan GT3s and prior to the season kicking off, will work with Lamborghini factory drivers at private test sessions at the Vallelunga circuit.

According to head of motorsport from Lamborghini, Giorgio Sanna: “At Lamborghini Squadra Corse we have a strong commitment to supporting young promise in the world of Gran Turismo. The successful sales we have been experiencing with the Huracán GT3 this year have given us the opportunity to support a larger number of drivers. We are very proud that we have 13 drivers from our 2015 Super Trofeo series who are going to participate in the world’s most important GT championships supported by Squadra Corse, which means our youth program is working exactly the way we wanted.”
