Maserati Levante SUV First Teaser Drops Online

Four years after displaying the original concept, Maserati is finally ready to present the production version of its first-ever SUV to the public.

The truth is we were expecting the Levante to show up in Detroit, but apparently Geneva was deemed more suitable.

A couple of months do not much difference make and, anyways, seeing the first teaser of the upcoming Maser is good enough in itself. Mind you, the image hasn’t been released by the company itself: it first surfaced on a small Facebook page, so some reservations about its authenticity are natural.

Nevertheless, given its similarity to leaked patented drawings of the Levante, we’d hedge our bets on it being the real thing.

What this image reveals are the traditional front grille complete with the trident badge, the slim headlights, the outer edges of the front air intakes, as well as the hood that features of four subtle vertical creases.

No other styling details are visible, but with less than two weeks remaining for the Geneva Auto Show premiere, we won’t have to wait long to see it in full.

The Levante will borrow the V6 and V8 engines as well as the ZF 8-speed auto transmission and all-wheel drive system from the Ghibli and Quattroporte sedans. If the production car sticks to the concept’s design, it will be quite a looker. Porsche et all, take notice…
