Since the opening of the Kecskemet plant on March 29, 2012, Mercedes-Benz has built 500,000 cars in Hungary.

The milestone was celebrated at the facility recently, where the country’s Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, was present, along with the Mayor of Kecskemet, other state officials and Mercedes-Benz chiefs.

The Mercedes-Benz plant Kecskemet, together with the lead plant in Rastatt, Germany, makes an important contribution to growth in our compact-car segment. In Kecskemet, with the CLA and CLA Shooting Brake, we produce two models exclusively for the world market“, commented Member of the Divisional Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Markus Schafer.

The 500,000th car produced in the Hungarian plant is a Cosmos Black CLA, which will be delivered to a local customer. Besides the compact four-door coupe, the three-pointed star also produces the CLA Shooting Brake and B-Class in Kecskemet, and the site is currently investing €15 million (16.9$ million equivalent) in an innovative logistics concept.

Mercedes-Benz Cars Operations produces vehicles at 26 locations worldwide and it has approximately 70,000 employees. In 2015 alone, 2,059,000 units were assembled, with Mercedes and Smart logos, marking the fifth record in a row.
