Opel carries the “dream car” concept from deep sleep into the real world in its latest clip.

In a sci-fi scenario, the design study “electrifyingly wakens all senses” before transforming right in front of the fan, who becomes the driver as the GT Concept opens its door and seems to whisper: “Come on, drive me!“.

If you can dream it, you can create it“, is the message of the of the video, which was created under the guidance of Hanna Maria Heidrich and Scholz & Friends.

Back to the real world, the Opel GT Concept is more than just a simple exercise for the German manufacturer as it previews the design philosophy of future models. It has a long bonnet, short overhangs, red signature line and a central dual exhaust.

Inside, it lacks buttons, as systems are operated by a central touch pad or by voice control. The HMI (Human Machine Interface) adapts to the driver’s needs and constantly evolves, thanks to the “learning software”, with every command.

Rather than throw in a large engine in the new GT Concept, Opel chose a 1.0-liter turbo mill, with three cylinders, which delivers 145 PS (143 hp) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is based on the one used on the Adam, Corsa and Astra and propels the study from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 8 seconds and up to a top speed of 215 km/h (134 mph).
