Opel’s Geneva Show Lineup Includes GT Concept, Mokka X, Astra and Astra TCR

Opel will be attending this year’s Geneva Motor Show with the new GT Concept, the facelifted Mokka X,  Astra, Astra Sports Tourer and Astra TCR racer.

Unveiled a few weeks ago, the new Opel GT Concept is the descendant of the GT from the sixties and seventies and it carries some of the lines of the Monza. The sports car is described as a “dynamic driving machine” that lacks door handles and side mirrors and comes with a long bonnet, short overhangs and bold red signature accents.

It carries a 1.0-liter three-cylinder, turbocharged unit delivering 145PS (143hp) and 205Nm (151lb-ft) of torque, allowing the 1,000kg (2,205lbs) two-seater to sprint from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in less than 8 seconds and to reach 215km/h (134mph).

The Mokka X is an updated version of the small SUV, which received a new exterior look, aligned with the rest of Opel’s lineup, some tweaks made to the cabin, and a new-gen 1.4-liter Direct Injection Turbo, with 152PS (150hp), connected to a six-speed automatic and an adaptive AWD system.

The Opel Astra may not be new anymore, but it is on the company’s list for the Swiss event, in two versions, hatchback and Sports Tourer. The compact car will gain a new two-stage turbo range-topper diesel in Geneva, a 1.6-liter BiTurbo CDTi, with an output of 160PS (158hp) and 350Nm (258lb-ft) of torque.

In addition to the Astra and Astra Sports Tourer, the German manufacturer will also present the Astra TCR race car, with a 2.0-liter turbo engine that delivers 330PS (325hp) and 420Nm (310lb-ft) of torque. The unit sends power to the FWD through a six-speed sequential racing transmission with paddle shifters.

Stopping power is provided by 378mm & 6-piston brake calipers at the front and 265mm and 2-piston calipers at the rear. The new Astra TCR will make its racing debut in several TCR championships, this year.
