The Porsche 911 GT3 may not be as powerful as some of its rivals nor as fast in a straight line or around a racetrack, yet it remains one of the most revered sports cars on the market.

In production (as a nameplate) since 1999, the GT3 model has been offered on three 911 generations and in the latest 991-gen guise, is driven by a 3.8-liter flat six-engine delivering 475 hp at a screaming 8,250 rpm.

Revving to 9,000 rpm, mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the rear-wheels and including an advanced all-wheel steering system, it’s little wonder why the GT3 is the go-to premium sports car for many enthusiasts.

Straight from the factory, the car emits an addictive and characteristic Porsche howl but with an Akrapovic system, sounds even better.

Filmed here screaming around the Hockenheimring circuit in Germany, the custom exhaust of this GT3 maintains the key mechanical-sounding traits of the naturally-aspirated flat-six engine but makes everything just that little bit louder.
