Speaking with a German newspaper recently, chief executive Oliver Blume said Porsche isn’t remotely interested in autonomous driving technologies.

This comes despite the fact that the other three premium German marques, BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, are all working on autonomous technology.

“One wants to drive a Porsche by oneself. An iPhone belongs in your pocket, not on the road,” Blume said.

While Porsche won’t release a self-driving model, it is pushing forward in its attempts to slash emissions by offering hybrid variants of all of its models, including the iconic 911 sports car. Additionally, the company’s all-electric Mission-E sedan will hit the market by 2020.’
