Volkswagen’s commercial vehicle lineup has gained a new member, the Transporter Chassis Cab.

Available for order now in Britain, the vehicle starts from £25,462 ($36,655 equivalent), tax included, for the long wheelbase Single Cab Startline, equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox. Go for the 7-speed DSG, in the same version, and the price will increase to £27,358 ($39,383).

The cheapest LWB Double Cab will set prospective buyers back for £27,862 ($40,110) and the range-topper 7-speed auto costs £29,758 ($42,838). All variants of the VW commercial vehicle have a 2.0-liter TDI engine, with 140PS (138hp) that meets Euro 5 emission standards.

In double cab variants, the Transporter Chassis Cab can carry up to six passengers, while in single cab form, it offers a payload capacity of up to 1,339kg (2,952lbs). The vehicle can be equipped with a versatile blank canvas and it can also be ordered with a drop-side body, directly from the factory, which has a load space of either 5.2 square meters in single cab or 4.2 square meters in double cab arrangement.

New assistance and safety features found across the range include regenerative braking, Start/Stop, BlueMotion technologies and low rolling resistance tires, added to standard “goodies” such as DAB+ digital radio, 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth and USB. Automatic Post-Collision Braking System is offered at no extra cost.
