How’s This For Your Next-Gen 2019 BMW X5?

With BMW already testing the next-generation X5 hidden underneath present-day body panels and camouflage, it’s certainly not to0 early to speculate about its design language.

The car our spy photographers caught back in January was nothing more but a test mule, which means we couldn’t take away much from it in terms of looks.

However, even if the overall design won’t be revolutionary, there are plenty of new and exciting ways BMW could go – unless they’re not willing to mess around too much with one of their most successful models.

This rendering uses a Vision Future Luxury-inspired front end, which is a clear departure from what the current model looks like, so do let us know if you’d like the new X5 to represent such a leap in terms of design. As for the rear, its reminiscent of the 7-Series with that horizontal design element, though the taillights are slightly larger – which does work seen as how this is an SUV.

Also, if these headlights remind you of the Maserati Levante, rest assured, you’re not alone.

    Round fog-lights again!

    • Mario Tuzzo

I know what you mean, the round fog lights, take away the design of the car so much. Without the round fog lights, this car would looks so much better.

      • Mario Tuzzo

Did you see the Maserati Kubang as the concept of the Maserati Lavente? The concept looks great, compared to the production version. All because the production version has the round headlights. Little details, can make or break a car designs.

  • Kash

Well I doubt you’d have the LED’s in the lower intakes as well as the lights right under the headlights. It doesn’t look like it’s the right size either. It looks more like a possible X3. The hood looks a little longer than normal, almost Infiniti FX/QX70 style long. The portion behind the rear doors looks too short. Assuming the X7 will be more of an XC90 Excellence style SUV (2+2 style seating with rear center console, etc.) than a full fledged 3 row SUV like the GLS, then this needs to have more room in the back to fit a 3rd row in there. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next X5 gained some width to fit 8 people a little better or to be offered with captain’s chairs in the second row.

P.s. that hood looks like someone either dropped something on it or this rendering rear ended a semi with how extreme the down curve is there at the front.

I agree with you…but it’s just render, quite cheaply made I’d add.

      • Kash

Very cheap. I mean the Levante wasn’t the best base to use. Personally I would’ve gone for the new Q7, it has a decent enough base to fit into BMW’s lineup. Or even the new MDX would’ve done decently as a base.

  • Tumbi Mtika

Gee, you think that’s because that’s the base of this rendering?

  • Maserati wants its lights back

    • Matt

Both renders are based on images of the Maserati Levante.

  • Astonman

    i like it. Looks elegant.

  • pcurve

bmw makes good looking car every other generation. The current x5 is a dud, but I can get onboard with this one. Love the long hood.

  • thunder bolt

move the fog lights to the bottom of the grill and it will look good.

  • Finkployd

That’s what you get when you put a cx9 and a levante in a shaker

  • Serhii Kniaziuk

    mazda x5? then good!

  • Javokhir_Sam

That would be better. Big SUV needs bigger headlamp, IMHO

    • fabri99

I don’t know where to stand in this.
On one hand, too small headlamps on Maseratis have always bothered me; on the other hand I don’t want all cars to have those enormous headlamps you see today. Just go check the new Toyota CH-R, headlamps are giant.

      • Javokhir_Sam

Automakers (or designers) need to pay attention to the proportions. Too big and too small headlights – both are key recipes to ugliness or unattractiveness.

        • fabri99

That’s true, of course, but still, beautiful is what people like and people seem to appreciate giant headlamps more.

    • MultiKdizzle

I see you’ve got rid of the circular fog lights. Good job.

    • Bash

this is a way much better front end… great job Javokhir

  • xDRAN0x

I see a lot of Infiniti FX in the front

  • Mark

This is gross, hope they understand that in Munchen.

  • no25

how about not….besides the current one just came out like damn let it live.

  • Alx

    Not a chance.

  • MarkoS

    Ummmm No!

  • trentbg

Looks like Mazda CH-9 rip off.

  • Bash

the back is fine.. but I cant say NO enough for the front… its ugly
