Ah, Craigslist; the official site of “I didn’t know such thing existed, but now I want it”. Like this old Merc, for example.

Seen the Mercedes’ All Terrain E-Class? Then think of this as one they did earlier.

The lifted Mercedes 300TE 4matic Wagon that’s up for sale is powered by 3.0-litre inline-six mated to an automatic gearbox and has 100k miles on the clock (160,000 km).

Old it may be, but the W124 E-Class is largely considered as bulletproof and this one comes with the standard original 4Matic all-wheel-drive system which allows for 35/65 or “locked” 50/50 front/rear axle torque split. Plus, it’s been restored and looks in perfect condition.

Not all is as it seems, though, as the seller notes “a problem” with the transfer case. Better check out what exactly is needed, for the $5,000 asking price could easily spiral out of control. Or not, if it’s something simple and/or are willing and able to put in some elbow grease.
