Ever since FCA boss Sergio Marchionne said that he’d like Alfa Romeo to return to Formula 1 as a works team, speculation has been on the rise whether or not that would actually happen.

What we do know is that come 2017, F1 cars will change drastically. Teams will have to focus more on mechanical grip and may even add some type of cockpit protection, be it a halo or an actual windscreen/canopy.

As for this rendering, it certainly looks futuristic enough – perhaps too much, at least for the short term. Still, a Turkish designer,Olcay Tuncay Karabulut, has gone ahead and has even given it a backstory.

According to Olcay, this Alfa Romeo AW30 is a quad core electric technological dream, rated at 1,000 HP and capable of a sub 3-second 0-60 mph (96 km/h) acceleration time.

It makes for an interesting comparison to other proposals like the previous F1 concept art McLaren MP4-X, don’t you think?

Thanks to Olcay Tuncay Karabulut for sharing!
