Made to tone up the DS line-up in China where it will be sold exclusively, the new 4S seems to have already gotten out to a good start. By that we mean it has received a generally positive reception
among online media, which have everything to do with its
appearance, as shown here in these pictures from Autohome.

In fact, the DS 4S kind of looks like a mix between the 5-door Peugeot 308 and the existing DS4 that Citroen currently sells in Europe, except that by wearing the DS badge, customers could, in theory, include it among traditionally premium alternatives such as the BMW 1-Series and the Mercedes-Benz A-Class.

The DS 4S is also getting a relatively diverse array of engine configurations, with an entry-level 1.2-liter three-cylinder PureTech unit, packing 135 PS & 230 Nm (169 lb-ft), a mid-range 1.6-liter THP engine with 167 PS & 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) and a top of the range 1.8-liter turbocharged unit, good for 203 PS and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft). Also, due to customer demands in China, the only available transmission will be a six-speed automatic.

In terms of refinement, customers will get to enjoy a lot of leather surfaces (even dashboard & door panels) – which are handcrafted and take about 8 hours each to complete. Outside, the DS 4S features signature LED headlights & taillights, where the latter come with a neat optical 3D effect.

Production for the new DS 4S will start at the Shenzen plant, which is where DS also builds the DS5, DS 5LS and DS 6 SUV.
