Subaru is going after another record attempt on this year’s Isle of Man TT with Mark Higgins on the wheel and a special WRX STI Time Attack car prepared by none other than Prodrive.

The new car was specifically engineered to tackle the TT course, with Prodrive responsible for the design and build and Subaru Technica International for technical assistance.

“We are excited to be back and running on the Isle of Man TT course,” said Dominick Infante, National Manager of Product Communications, Subaru of America. “This is one of the most amazing road courses in the world and the Isle of Man TT is one of the most exciting races of the year. We have previously run the TT Course in near-stock Subaru WRX STIs, but this year we set out to design the ultimate WRX STI for this circuit.”

Higgins will try to beat his own 2014 record in which he averaged 117.5mph over the 37-mile course, completing the lap in 19 minutes and 15 seconds.

Subaru didn’t release any technical details on their new contender, with the photos only informing us of a major aero agenda, a race suspension setup, slick tires and a fitted roll cage in the now-naked cabin.
