The SLR McLaren catapulted to the top of the food chain when was first released, but we now live in the hybrid hypercar era.

Still, even by today’s standards,it’s still a very competent performance automobile capable of reaching speeds in excess of 330 Km/h and accelerating from 0 to 100 Km/h in 3.4 seconds.

Not bad for a 13-year old model, huh? Nevertheless, whether we like to admit it or not, it won’t get any younger, and the new breed of supercars are becoming faster and faster.

Renntech is among those who believe that the SLR still has a lot of potential left in it. A whole lot. So it has just poked it with a performance stick.

This particular jet black example may look like a pure stock example, but Renntech has fiddled with its 5.4-litre supercharged M155 V8, and it now produces a staggering 748 PS (737 HP) and 748 lb-ft (1014 Nm) of torque. That’s 120 HP and 235 Nm over the standard output thanks to an ECU upgrade, a pulley upgrade, a dual intercooler pump, a stainless steel sport muffler, and a limited slip differential. Okay, the last one has nothing to do with the engine performance, but it’s a commendable add-on. What more can you ask for?
