Beyond speculating that it could be Fiat’s version of Jeep’s upcoming, common replacement for the Compass and Patriot, our spies were scratching their heads with this prototype.

The only sure thing they were able to tell us is that it’s a compact SUV, roughly the same size as a VW Tiguan or a Nissan Qashqai. Yes, it would have been peachy if they could have nabbed a closer look at that yellow paper on the passenger side rear window, but they didn’t, so we’re left to decrypt the rest of the car.

We went over a few scenarios, such as the similarity of the wheel design, door mirror turning signals, front headrests, and possibly, the instrument panel (we don’t get a clear look), to Volvo models, but the body styling doesn’t seem to match what we’re expecting from a future XC40.

Perhaps it’s a case of the obvious is staring us right in the face, but we cannot see it, or maybe it’s something completely new and unexpected. If you think you know, well then, the comments section is all yours.
