Maro Engel won the ‘Ring endurance race driving the Black Falcon Mercedes AMG GT3, but he clinched first place in the very last lap.

Actually, it was a quite dramatic event, as it to be suspended in its first hour due to a huge storm that caused several cars to spin off the track.

Two hours later and with the storm gone, the race resumed behind the safety car. Christian Hohenadel in the no.29 HTP Motorsport Mercedes was leading the pack in the final stages of the event, with Maro Engel in the no.4 Black Falcon car hot on his trail.

It all went down to the last lap, where Engel pulled a very aggressive move at Turn 8 to pass Hohenadel for the top spot, sending the latter temporarily off the track.

The first two cars finished the 24-hour race just 5.7 seconds apart, with HTP Motorsport unsuccessfully protesting to the race director for Engel’s move.

Black Falcon’s No.4 car was driven by Bernd Shneider, Adam Christodoulou, Manuel Metzger and of course Maro Engel, with Mercedes dominating the race after its AMG GT3 cars secured the top four spots.
