First 2017 Acura NSX Rolls Off Production Line In Ohio [w/Video]

Acura‘s first serial production 2017 NSX came off the assembly line at the new Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio and into the hands of its first customer who earned this right with a $1,2 million bid.

Rick Hendrick had the winning bid at the Barrett-Jackson auction in January, earning himself the right to custom order the first production NSX, which is officially a Valencia Red Pearl model with exclusive interwoven wheels, carbon ceramic brake rotors, leather and Alcantara interior trim and carbon fiber upgrades, which include the engine cover, roof and rear decklid spoiler.

“Taking delivery of this first new Acura supercar and knowing the proceeds will benefit two remarkable organizations for children makes this a very special moment for me and everyone on our team,” said Mr Hendrick, owner of Hendrick Motorsports. “It’s especially rewarding to see this incredible supercar coming to life in the United States, which is a real testament to the company’s commitment to innovation and manufacturing here.”

The NSX’s 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 unit is built nearby in Anna, Ohio where master technicians assemble the engine and then mate it to the advanced 9-speed dual clutch transmission and rear direct drive electric motor.

Before any delivery can take place, each NSX engine is machine balanced, bench tested and broken-in to the equivalent of 150 miles (240 km). The engine itself is installed into the car at the PMC, where the NSX also gets the revolutionary front-mounted Twin Motor Unit, enabling the electrically powered torque vectoring feature.

“The NSX is a pure expression of the Precision Crafted Performance DNA and challenging spirit that defines the Acura brand,” went on to say Acura VP & GM Jon Ikeda. “We can’t wait to give our clients a chance to experience this dream product, and will carry this day’s momentum forward as we continue to invest in and grow Acura.”
