Just as RHD models are starting to roll off the production line, Ford UK has announced that over 60,000 people have configured the new Edge on their official website since January.

According to the automaker, the flagship Sport model is the most popular choice among those who seek out to use the online configurator (49%), while only 11% go for the Zetec series.

Powertrain-wise, over 55% of visitors ticked the 2.0-liter TDCi 210PS box, while the most popular colors seem to be Oxford White (standard), Shadow Black and Electric Spice.

So far, the average price of Edge models being configured in the UK surpasses £35,000 – which clearly indicates people aren’t shying away from optional extras such as the heated steering wheel, the Sony DAB premium audio with navigation system, front wide-view camera, adaptive cruise control, adaptive steering, 19″ wheels or the blind spot information system.

“The UK team and our extensive Ford dealer network are very excited by this exceptionally fast start for the new Ford Edge. With our existing EcoSport and Kuga SUV models enjoying healthy sales growth, there isn’t a better time to launch our new flagship Edge SUV,” said Ford UK exec Andy Barratt.

The new Ford Edge is set to arrive in UK dealerships this summer, with prices starting from £29,995.
