Vans used for commercial purposes aren’t the first type of vehicles that spring to mind when the conversation turns to posh rides, but if you think about it, you may realize that they actually make a lot of sense as alternatives to luxury barges.

First and foremost, they offer heaps of space for rear passengers and luxury amenities, making even the largest of saloons pale in comparison.

Mercedes-Benz’s latest Vito, called Metris in the States, isn’t the largest van you can get (think Sprinter here), but it’s still big enough to give four rear passengers a first class experience when done right.

Megabus Automotive S.A from Poland calls itself a boutique ‘executive vehicle conversion’ company and they’re justifying that description with custom builds like the Mercedes-Benz Vito 119 Tourer pictured here that’s up for sale on eBay for a lofty $198,000.

On the outside, it’s largely stock and doesn’t really look any different from the extra-long wheelbase (3,430mm or 135 inches) Vito passenger van model that measures 5,370mm (211.4 inches) long and will largely go by unnoticed on the road.

The magic happens inside where Megabus transforms the Vito from a multi-passenger transporter to a luxurious lounge for four, complete with large and small flat panel TVs on either side, a safe, fridges, PlayStation 4, Apple TV, tablets – the works, in other words. You can literally stand up and walk around the leather-cladded interior.

Impressive indeed, but we’ll let you decide if it’s worth more than what you’d pay for a brand-new Mercedes-Maybach S600 in the States ($189,350).
