New 2017 Porsche Panamera Leaks Online

“The fastest luxury sedan on earth” just leaked online, prior to a scheduled premiere on June 28.

As expected, the all-new Porsche Panamera sports an evolutionary design, maintaining the previous generation’s shape.

The images, leaked by @car01 via Motor1, show-off a new front end and a sleeker profile that contribute to the vehicle’s new sporty image (despite its slightly longer wheelbase), while the rear seems to have been heavily inspired by the one found on the new 718 Boxster/Cayman duo, with the taillights “connected” by an LED strip right on top of the Porsche lettering.

Based on the new MSB platform, Porsche’s new four-door model is expected to be around 200lbs (90kg) lighter than the outgoing generation thanks to the clever use of high strength steel, aluminum, and composite materials. Combine these weight-saving attributes with the new 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 pictured in one of the leaked photos, and it might explain why Porsche described it as the fastest luxury sedan on earth.

Although performance figures are still unknown, the car is believed to offer a fresh family of V6 and V8 turbocharged engines, with a plug-in hybrid version arriving later during the vehicle’s lifespan.

While reports indicate that a 12-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system will take center stage inside the vehicle’s cabin, we’re only able to spot (for now) its digital dashboard – complemented by an analogue tachometer – and its rear sets, separated by a thick console with an LCD panel and multimedia controls.

More information about the car is expected to surface in the following days, prior to its debut.

    I want a Panamera.

Did I just say that out loud…

    • hey I heard it!

    • antbee

Me, too, even the first gen.

    • fabri99

Careful who you call ugly in middle school, I guess.

      • Tumbi Mtika

        Damn right.

  • bloggin

Beautiful car. Porsche’s version of a Model S but burning gas.

  • Ilbirs

Way better than the previous one. A good premiere for the MSB platform and I hope that VW Group puts more rides using this RWD base.

    • MQB replaced?

      • Ilbirs

No, it’s another base. The MSB is a FR modular base from VW Group. The other modular platforms on Wolfsburg stable are the MQB (the one that will give birth to most upcoming models on the entire group and now comes in Golf VII, Tiguan II, Passat VI, TT, A3 and Ateca forms) and the MLB Evo (for now known in the recently released A4 and Chinese-market VW Phideon, but to be spawned to other models of the group that have front longitudinal engine and FWD or FWD-derived AWD).

        • Thanks for that info man, my A3 rides really well on that Modular, it could only get better, as for the MSB, as you put it, i’ve yet to sample.. Ta

          • Ilbirs

As said to @SwingtimeInTheRockies:disqus, I think that MSB was one of the reasons why VW wanted to buy Alfa Romeo from FCA, as none of the brands in VAG has the profile to have RWD rides that aren’t as expensive as a Panamera or any Bentley and the brand from Milan could help in gaining production scale for this modular base.

    • Six Thousand Times

It will underpin the next round of Bentleys. My fingers are still crossed for a 928 redux.

      • Ilbirs

I think the MSB was one of the reasons why VW wanted to buy Alfa Romeo from FCA, as the broader appeal of the Italian brand could help to increase scale for this base, that now will be restricted to a few models in the group.

        • Six Thousand Times

          That’s a possibility.

  • alexxx

better then the previous one…but that isnt saying too much…is it…

  • MarkoS

Ok update I guess, but I think the Original was better looking. I never thought it was bad looking, as all the car media writing paradigms try and portray it.

    • TOMSON

Man, even Porsche´s designe said they had to fix the rear design….it was butt ugly! This new one is pretty sweet, I like it 🙂

  • Now we’re talking, none of that hatchback-wagon jazz.. I’m diggin it quite a lot! it’s a Porsche now.

  • D3X

We got teased, then leaked in less than a day. Porsche, just do a proper release next time. Good looking car, it’s like a stretched Cayman(front) + 911(rear) all mixed up with 4 doors.

  • CFK

That´s a huge improvem… nope it´s the same piece of asshat car.

    • Tumbi Mtika

      Huh?

  • BarryFastCars

Do we know if there will be a RWD option for the new Panamera? It should be rocket with either the twin turbo V6 or the tt V8. I would love to see a RWD version but I’m sure the AWD will have a significant rear bias anyway.

    • Six Thousand Times

Como? The Panamera IS a RWD car.

    • donald seymour

      Its a Porsche.

  • An Existing Person

I was among the few that actually quite liked the previous generation Panamera, but this just topped that. If pricing doesn’t get too out of hand, and the “fastest luxury sedan on earth” title lives true, then one will surely make it into my garage.

    • donald seymour

      Yes you and I both.

  • Kash

Sploosh! Oh yes. I can’t wait for the wagon now. The only thing I would’ve changed is given it more of the 718’s rear “porsche” inscription.

  • Bananarama

That is f****ing gorgeous. The rear end is sooooo much cleaner and sexy. No more hunchback heavy look. This really does look like a 911 +2 doors now, and in the best way possible. I expect Porsche to make bank off of this thing…

  • Six Thousand Times

    Really quite pretty.

  • Marwan Abdul Hak

Sexy in and out. I love it. Hopefully they did not increase the length so much cuz cars are just growing in size while traffic and parking spots are the same

  • AJ

Is there any possibility of this new Panamera being sold in a 5 seat configuration ?

  • BrucieBruce

Gorgeous!! I feel sorry for folks that just bought the 1st generation ugly duckling version.

    • Tumbi Mtika

      It’s a sexy swan now…

  • Rick Alexander

I’m in! What I’d really like to see, is this new iteration in GTS guise. I’ll hold off until they make a Panamera that’s extremely driver focused. The original was an amazing handling car, given its size. However, the old design was a bit polarizing, although there were some really good aftermarket kits that improved the overall aesthetic. Can’t wait to see this in the flesh!

  • Tumbi Mtika

I do declare that this is a Porsche!!!

  • Honda NSX-R

I’d take this over an S Class anyday

  • Evo45

Rear lights looks like 991.2 to me, and it’s not bad actually. However side profile will grow on me too late.

  • SgtBeavis

The Tesla Model S is no longer the best looking sedan in my mind. This thing is art on wheels. Well Done Porsche!

  • MultiKdizzle

meh, I’ll have to reserve judgement for later. Not feeling the C-pillar though.

  • Vassilis

    Finally it looks good!

  • supermanuel

So much better. Really like it.

  • BlackPegasus

Who would’ve thought the rear seat would be the best place to be…?

  • Coatsey

I’ve looked at the Panamera on 3 occasions and until 3 seat in the back I’ll keep buying something else. It’s not rocket science, give buyers a choice of two or 3 seats in the rear and sell so many more… BMW M5 and others keep getting bought instead. This is like BMW not bring in 4WD until Audi have run riot through their customer base…
