Australian fans of performance BMWs rejoice, because Alpina is headed to a Land Down Under.

The vaunted Bimmer tuner, which shares almost as close a relationship with the manufacturer as its own M division does, is hitting the Australian market for the first time. It has already received government approval to sell the B4 Bi-Turbo Coupe (based on the 4 Series) which will be available beginning in November. But Alpina has plans to bring in several more models as well.

Currently undergoing homologation are the B4 Bi-Turbo Convertible and both the sedan and wagon versions of the B3 Bi-Turbo (based on the 3 Series).

The In Motion Group will handle importation under the name Alpina Automobiles – Australia, initially through the BMW Doncaster and BMW Bundoora dealerships in Melbourne. Additional dealers are expected to be announced by year end.

Alpina sold a record 1,700 vehicles worldwide in 2014, and over 1,600 in 2015. Its arrival in Australia ought to help even further boost its global sales.
