Audi will commence pre-sales of the all-new R8 V10 Spyder in Europe tomorrow (July 14), almost four months after it stepped in the NY Auto Show for its premiere.

Priced from €179,000 ($198,320) in Germany, the open-top supercar features LED headlights with laser technology, Audi Virtual Cockpit, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity and Bang & Olufsen premium sound system.

Its cloth top needs 20 seconds to open and close and can be operated at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). Compared to its predecessor, its torsional rigidity has been improved by 50 percent, while more than 110 kg (243 lbs) were shred from its total weight, as it now tips the scales at 1,612 kg (3,554 lbs) dry.

Unlike most rivals, Audi has not opted for forced induction, so the R8 is powered by 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 “borrowed” from the Lamborghini Huracan, which develops 540 PS (532 HP) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque. That’s good enough for a 3.6-second 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint run and a 318 km/h (198 mph) top speed.
