Goodwood’s narrow and twisty hill climb is definitely not the best place to sample one of the world’s most powerful hypercars but it’s certainly entertaining to watch.

Evo magazine rode shotgun in the new Bugatti Chiron at this year’s Festival of Speed with Andy Wallace on the driver’s seat.

Even with Wallace short-shifting during the run, the Chiron’s immense power levels cannot be hidden. The new quad-turbo 8.0-litre W16 produces 1,479hp (1,500PS) and 1180lb ft (1600Nm) of torque, catapulting the new Bugatti from zero to 62mph (0-100km/h) in less than 2.5 seconds while the top speed is limited(!) to 261mph (420km/h).

And yet, despite all this ridiculous amount of power the Chiron looks like it retains the civilized character Bugatti is known for. Not to mention that beautiful, simplistic interior with just four dials decorating the dashboard is in perfect harmony with the rest of the car’s design.

We simply can’t wait to see how fast the Chiron will be in 2018, when Bugatti will go after the title of the fastest car on Earth.
