The Nissan Leaf remains Europe’s highest selling electric car for yet another month, followed closely by another Renault-Nissan Alliance model, the Renault Zoe.
Between January and May this year, a total of 9,516 Nissan Leafs found homes across Europe while the keys to 9,388 brand new Renault Zoe’s were handed over to customers. Sitting behind these two models is the much-more expensive Tesla Model S, a total of which 5,360 examples were sold in the first five months of the year.
In the plug-in hybrid market, the Mitsubishi Outlander Plug-In Hybrid easily leads the charge with 9,392 sales compared to the 4,964 units of the Volkswagen Golf GTE which found homes. In third place is the Volvo XC90 Plug-In Hybrid (4,252 units) which fourth and fifth were collected by the Volkswagen Passat GTE and Mercedes-Benz C350e respectively.
