Cadillac Teases New Concept Ahead Of Monterey Debut

Cadillac will reveal a new concept car on August 18 during Monterey Car Week, releasing a short teaser video today to build our appetite.

Although we don’t have information on what type of vehicle this concept will be, we do know that it’ll feature a new approach inside, hosting an array of curved OLED screens that were co-developed with LG Electronics.

Cadillac is planning to offer this display technology to its future models and what better way of showing its intentions by using them on a new concept.

The new concept will also preview Cadillac’s new design approach which, judging by the video, will feature a more simplified and elegant environment for the driver and passengers.

Cadillac will unveil the new concept live on their Facebook page at 10:45 p.m. EST/7:45 p.m. PST on Thursday, August 18.

Brought to you by Cadillac straight from the 70’s…

    • dumblikeyou2

      I’d say late 60s more….

  • SgtBeavis

Hey look, another Caddy concept that will blow our damn minds but NEVER GET BUILT..

FU CADDY. Build the ElMiraj or GTFO! I’m sick of your crap. You build multiple examples of four wheels awesomeness and then you give us the F’ing CT6. No wonder people aren’t buying your crap. Screw you guys, I’m going home.

    • Tumbi Mtika

      Cartman?

    • TheBelltower

      Agreed. Elmiraj goddammit!

  • John Smith

I’m getting tired of seeing this concepts at Monterey and Pebble beach which should be in production by now. Ed Welburn as much of a likeable guy he is, was just too gun shy and conservative for what Cadillac needs right now. From the Ciel to the coupe concpet(forgot it’s name), the current line-up in Cadillac only has passing resemblance to these two concepts and it’s shame.

    • Tumbi Mtika

      Elmiraj

  • BqWsRe

    It’s a two-seat convertible.

  • Tumbi Mtika

Cadillac, unless you actually translate these concepts into your cars, and stop giving us crap like the XT5, I can’t see you succeeding. You’ve got a hard enough job as it is, thanks to what you’ve been doing from the 90’s to when you launched the 3rd gen CTS. Stop making it harder on yourself, guys.

    A thing that I liked: being styled like the times when American premium brands didn’t try to mimic Euro ones;

A thing that I don’t like: Caddy won’t make it production and, instead, will keep sending off the plants cars that mimic the Euro ones.

      Great post.

    • Tumbi Mtika

I didn’t even notice how retro-futuristic it is.

You sir, have opened my eyes.

  • Enter Ranting

Oooh! More screens! I don’t have nearly enough screens in my life!

    • donald seymour

Yeah, I do think that car makers are loosing the balancing act between screens and substance.

  • TheBelltower

Build it. Then I’ll be impressed. It seems that most people are generally unfazed by swoopy concepts anymore, since they generally only lead to unimpressive, ordinary production versions. That said, this is beautiful. I like the idea of screens looking less like screens, and being more uniquely shaped and incorporated into the design. So it looks good even when they aren’t powered-on.

    Very “Stranger Things” music.

    • Astonman

reminds me of the music from the last Tron movie
