Citroen has revealed a new large saloon concept called CXperience ahead of its official debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show.

The company says they wanted to demonstrate their ability to transfer their current design approach in the big saloon segment.

Measuring 4.85m long, 2m wide and 1.37m tall, the new Citroen CXperience concept features very short overhangs to allow for a gargantuan 3m-long wheelbase, making it a really striking car to look at.

Power comes from a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain that allegedly produces between 250hp and 300hp, with Citroen claiming an all-electric driving range of 37 miles (60km). An eight-speed automatic gearbox is mounted transversely between the internal combustion engine and the electric motor. Citroen’s Advanced Comfort programme is the company’s modern try to bring unparalleled levels of comfort, using a new, innovative suspension setup with hydraulic cushions.

As you would expect from a Citroen of this size, the real party piece is the cabin. Inspired by “architecture, decoration and furnishings”, the interior is a mix of clean design with premium materials and cutting-edge technology. The rear suicide doors combined with the lack of a b-pillar further enhances the impression of space. The seats are upholstered with yellow mesh fabric with their backrests featuring walnut wood that matches that on the dashboard.

A 19-inch, 16/3 format rectangular screen is the dashboard’s highlight and acts as the vehicle’s control center, grouping functions like air-conditioning, driving aids, navigation and media sources. The rear passengers have access to a tablet that lets them adjust their seats, climate control and media playing.

The exterior door mirrors have been replaced by cameras that send their feed onto small digital screens mounted on the inner door panels and along with the front and rear cameras provide a 360-degree view of the car’s immediate environment.
