Buying a performance automobile is one thing, but knowing how to use it is another matter entirely. Fortunately there’s a growing array of advanced driving programs available, and some of them even come complimentary with the purchase of the car around which they’re designed. Like Ford’s new RS Adrenaline Academy.

The program caters specifically to the Ford Focus RS, that drift-enabled, all-wheel-drive, 350-horsepower hot hatch from Dearborn. It’s part of the Ford Performance Racing School at the Utah Motorsports Campus in Grantsville, where Ford also runs the ST Octane Academy for owners of the Fiesta ST and Focus ST.

The curriculum includes time both in the classroom and on track, learning techniques of braking, shifting, and cornering, while mastering the car’s four driving modes. Tutelage takes place behind the wheel of a Focus RS outfitted with safety equipment but otherwise the same as the one owner/participants have at home.

The program lasts one day, and is provided free of charge to anyone who buys a Focus RS. Participants just need to cover their own transportation and lodging, and have the option to extend with a second day in the Mustang GT as well. Look for the schedule to be announced in due course.
