Ford Updates 2017 F-Series Super Duty With 48 Gallon Tank

For those not satisfied with the recently-launched 2017 Ford F-Series Super Duty, Ford has just added a new fuel tank to the car, giving it the largest fuel capacity of any vehicle in the segment.

The new 48-gallon tank is 22 per cent larger than the 37.5 gallon tank that comes standard in the car and due to the new model’s extended wheelbase, fits snugly between the frame and driveshaft.

Ford says that the new fuel tank will particularly help those that use the F-Series Super Duty for work purposes, giving them longer gaps between fill-ups thanks to the improved range. Compared to 2016 models, the aluminum construction of the 2017 car aids further in better fuel economy.

In terms of engines, there are two options for the new car. The standard petrol 6.2-liter V8 has 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque on tap while the 6.7-liter diesel V8 delivers 440 hp and an incredible 925 lb-ft, enough torque to split the world in two.

This means that the F-450 SuperCrew 4×4 with a gooseneck hitch can tow up to 32,500 pounds. Insane.

The diesel is very impressive. I can’t imagine many buyers looking at F250-350’s opting for the gas-burner.

The F550 is the basis for my dream machine, the Earthroamer, and the diesel is the engine it demands. I wonder if it’s noisy and dirty. I know that diesels have come a long way since the time I grew up with the in Europe but, let’s face it, this diesel and an A4 diesel are completely different beasts (thank you captain obvious). I hate it when some douche floors his pick up unnecessarily, leaving behind clouds of black smoke. I wouldn’t want to look like that.

I live in the South, where diesel duallies and passenger cars share the road in just about equal numbers. They were crude, smoke-belching work machines back in the day, and now they’re cleaner, quieter, (much) more powerful, and every interior surface is covered in wood or leather. Of course, the price tag has gone through the roof.

Why are you calling it a ‘car’?

    • Ameer Hassan Tajaldeen

a car is road vehicle, typically with four wheels, powered by an internal combustion engine and able to carry a small number of people.

      • Craig

        ‘Thanks’ smart-ass.
