With its 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and use of three electric motors, the 2017 Acura NSX’s drivetrain is as advanced as the much more expensive trio of hybrid hypercars. But does that mean it is a budget hypercar?
The crew at Carfection recently had the opportunity to drive the all-new NSX on a selection of twisty back roads and the obligatory racetrack and discovered that the Audi R8 rival is quite a curious car.
In terms of sports cars, supercars and hypercars, it is hard to find any model with more advanced technologies than the NSX. One could consider it a rolling test bed for technology which will eventually trickle down into everyday hatchbacks. From the complex torque vectoring system to the electric motors and the nine-speed automatic transmission, you have to be impressed by what Honda has created.
But does all this tech translate into an enjoyable driving experience? Or is it just like the Nissan GT-R, a real-world video game?
