The angriest version of the 991 family is on its way and boy does it sound pissed off.

Porsche was caught testing a 991 GT2 RS mule around the Nurburgring which sounded pretty ferocious thanks to the twin-turbo flat six hanging out at the back.

Reports suggest that the new Widow Maker will offer close to 650hp channelled to the rear axle alone. So far the fastest 911 you can get new from the dealership is the Turbo S which produces just 572hp which are sent to all four wheels.

This mule seems to lack the front wing louvers that were introduced in the GT3 RS, but this might be just a camouflage strategy and not the real deal. Or perhaps Porsche is readying a different aero package for the new range-topping 911.

Either way the video linked below gives us another hint of what to expect from the new GT2 RS and that is the gearbox it’s using: listen closely and you’ll notice the unmistakable instant gear change only a dual-clutch transmission can offer.

We are unaware whether a manual will be offered, too, or whether Porsche will bring it back only for the naturally aspirated GT3. What we are absolutely certain is that, with or without a clutch pedal, the new GT2 RS will be a proper monster.
