Mercedes came up with a badass six-wheeled pickup truck, the AMG G63 6×6, but now looking it’s entering uncharted waters.

With the Volkswagen Amarok in its sight and a possible future rival from BMW, the first Merc pickup truck shares its underpinnings with the latest Nissan NP300 Navara and to hit the market next year, as Daimler announced in its road map, but this is where clear starts to become blury.

It’s still too early to talk about its exterior design, but it could either adopt cues from the SUV lineup or make a few changes and stick the three-pointed star to the Japanese pickup truck (remember the Citan?).

The most plausible scenario for the interior sees company’s team of designers and engineers working closely together to improve the quality of materials and to add new features, as these will eventually justify its premium price tag.

As for its market availability, Europeans should be among the first to have it in their driveways, along with Latin Americans, South Africans and Australians, while a North American introduction remains uncertain at this point. It’s very possible that it will eventually happen, giving that consumers on this side of the pond are avid pickup fans.
