Yamaha has revealed that it is developing artificial intelligence systems to improve motorcycle safety.
According to Ride Apart, the company is developing its system with a research body in the United States and will draw on the experience Yamaha gained when creating its fully-autonomous motorcycle last year.
Company president Hiroyuki Yanahi said “We want to facilitate driving operations of our motorcycles and reduce the burden on riders to allow them to pay more attention to safety.
“We’ll use the expertise we’ve acquired from robots for our motorcycles. We’ll promote the development of technologies to make motorcycle driving easier,” the executive said.
Specifics about the systems are limited at this stage but Yamaha did confirm its hope to reduce collisions thanks to the artificial intelligence setup.
