Ford has announced that by the end of 2016, it will have sold over 200,000 performance car models this year alone.

Leading the pack is the latest Focus RS, a model which Ford says has sold out in every region around the world. Additionally, demand and sales of the sixth-generation Mustang have been astronomical, cementing its position as the best-selling sports car in a selection of countries and regions around the world.

The Shelby GT350 and GT350R are also proving particular popular across North America and have already sold out for the 2017 model year.

Sales of Ford’s performance range of vehicles are expected to increase further in the coming months as the latest-generation F-150 Raptor starts to hit U.S. dealerships during the fourth quarter. Soon after, the popular model will go on sale for China for the very first time.

As for the impending 2017 Ford GT, it too has proved a hit for enthusiasts. Even though just 500 units have been confirmed for the two first years of production, over 6,500 potential customers applied for an allocation. As a result, Ford recently extended production by two years.

According to global director of Ford Performance, Dave Pericak “Ford’s commitment to performance leadership continues, with Ford on track to deliver 12 new performance vehicles promised by the end of the decade.”
