Mercedes Is Definitely Going To Build An AMG GT C Coupe Next Year

Mercedes confirmed that they will build a fixed-roof version of the AMG

Mercedes confirmed that they will build a fixed-roof version of the AMG GT C Roadster, complete with the 547hp version of the twin-turbo V8 engine.

The confirmation came from AMG’s boss Tobias Moers who said to Autocar that the AMG GT C Coupe will follow ‘in the near future’.

While he didn’t delve into details, it is almost certain that the Coupe version will feature the same exactly specifications with the recently unveiled AMG GT C Roadster. This translates into a more powerful twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine that makes 44hp more than the AMG GT S Coupe, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with different gear ratios.

The new AMG GT C Roadster gets also the active air management system that debuted in the range-topping GT R version. The system can open or close a series of vertical louvers within the grille, depending on the temperature of the engine in order to either cool the engine or make the airflow smoother.

All these new features are going to find their way into the Coupe version as well, which is set to bridge the gap between the GT S and the GT R models. It’s also expected to be lighter than its Roadster counterpart too.

The new model will be added to the Mercedes-AMG GT range sometime during 2017.
