Renault has brought together its advanced electric and autonomous technologies for the Trezor concept, just unveiled at the Paris Auto Show.

The sleek, two-door design of the Renault Trezor offers a look at styling likely to feature in future Renault models but for the moment, is unlike anything else to wear the diamond badge.

The exterior is bathed in innovative carbon fiber body work with flowing and smooth lines that stretch from the front right through to the rear with the elongated decklid and horizontal taillights. Other key design traits include the absence of a traditional front grille and instead, the only air intakes at the front are those to cool the brakes. The red, wrap-around windscreen also immediately catches the eye.

While the design of the Trezor is rather eye-popping, it is the technology found beneath the concept that is of the most importance. The electric motor is derived from the one powering the company’s Formula E race car and therefore delivers 350 hp and 380 Nm of torque, accelerating the Trezor to 62 mph (100 km) in fewer than four seconds.

Also found beneath the skin are two batteries and a brake-operated energy recovery system, again borrowed from Formula E. Despite all of this tech, the concept tips the scales at a respectable 1,600 kg (3,527 pounds).

Additionally, the Renault Treazor comes complete with a fully-autonomous driving mode. This mode sees the steering wheel stretch in width to offer the operator a complete new perspective of the road by opening up a panoramic view of the dashboard and the large central screen. Renault says that it plans to offer “hands-off/eyes-off” autonomous features to its range sometime after 2020.

The aforementioned central screen found within the Trezor is quite advanced as well. It combines OLED technology with Corning Gorilla Glass and is slightly curved and doesn’t require any backlightng, unlike an LED display. This results in superior contrast and colors.
