When it comes to the Nurburgring, some high-speed sections of the track can prove very unforgiving for those that have already lost control of their car.

The driver of this E46 BMW M3 is seemingly doing his best to avoid hitting the barrier, and yet the car was carrying too much momentum in order to be denied a date with an automobile repair shop.

The good news is that the impact itself wasn’t particularly rough, which means that aside from his pride and bank account, the driver was probably alright.

As for what went wrong, well, to start off it’s clear that we’re looking at an experienced driver (at least as far as the Nordschleife is concerned). Once the rear starts drifting wide, he reacts immediately, trying to do everything he could in order to keep the car straight, even on the grass.

Unfortunately, because of the speed and the slippery grass surface, once the rear kicks out in the opposite direction, his steering input needed to be a lot quicker in order for him to have a chance at keeping the car from spinning. In the end, he wasn’t quick enough and the M3 ends up brushing against the barrier.
