While football-humor is mostly reserved for the weeks leading up to the Superbowl, Hyundai decided to treat us to some early NFL-related content.
As you might know, Hyundai is an official sponsor of the National Football League, having replaced GM back in 2015, on a $50m per year deal.
The Korean automaker is also quite adept at satirical commercials, which is pretty much what this clip is. In short, what would a football fan do if he was supposed to take his family on a fishing trip on a Sunday?
Hyundai’s solution is a bit on the crazy side – he’ll calmly drive up to the pier in his 2017 Elantra and instead of getting the boat ready (as his wife suggested), he lets it drift out to sea. It may be a little extreme (a lot actually), but does in a way reflect just how passionate football fans can be about their teams.
On the flip side, the man in the video happens to be wearing a Miami Dolphins t-shirt, and they’re not exactly contenders this year. So…maybe just keep the boat?
